Following analysis of existing market trends and requirements, Nucore Group have recently launched an innovative cooling system prioritising low load starting current, designed for continuous and ad-hoc use on limited capacity power sources.

This direct expansion (DX) cooling system can typically be run from emergency back-up battery power, or in environments where renewable energy generation is the primary source of power. The Nucore Group designed system can be universally applied where climate control and operating temperatures are vital for ongoing operations in environments where power consumption is critical. The system is designed for harsh external environments and suitable for use in marine atmospheres with an external operating temperature of up to +50°C.
Typically, available in standard 9kW cooling duty, the internal evaporator can be supplied in wall mount, under ceiling or ceiling cassette configuration to suit a variety of layouts. Depending on specification, the wall and under ceiling units can also be supplied in a high quality Stainless Steel casing for additional protection.
The external unit can be designed for use in both hazardous (Zone 1/Zone 2) and non-hazardous areas and is encased in 316L stainless steel, providing a design life expectancy of up to 25 years.

Key Outcomes of the Project

The system features a variety of innovations and features, including a staged, soft start sequencing that enables the system to start on just 25% of the normal Locked Rotor Amps (LRA) of standard DX systems of this type. The multiple motors within the system are operated through a sequenced system which prevents multiple motors from simultaneous starting and creating a peak load scenario.

The systems are designed for ease of use and maintenance and can be supplied in standard catalogue enclosure sizes, facilitating integration into common floor plans, equipment room layouts and in IP rated weatherproof housings if required. Maintenance points are convenient, and components are readily available to ensure maintenance downtime can be minimised.

This innovative product has already proved to be effective in the market.
