Following on from the first successful completion of the Nucore Group apprenticeship programme, Nucore were delighted to welcome an additional two apprentices to their growing company in January.

The two apprentices will undertake a 3-year apprenticeship as Fire and Security engineers before receiving their qualification. Within their first 2 years at Nucore, they will be shadowing engineers, while also attending college to finish their Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance (Electrical) at Tullos Training Centre.

Nucore received a large number of applications for the apprenticeship programme, which made it challenging to pick only two engineers, but the two engineers that were selected stood out due to their personal values, which reflected the Nucore Core Values: People, Integrity, Sustainability and Safety.

Now 3 months into the scheme, they are both settling into their roles and ‘really enjoy the challenges that the team at Nucore involves them in daily’ and ‘the engineers and people who I work with have also made working at Nucore very enjoyable’.

When asked why our apprentices chose to start their career with Nucore they said that it was due to the opportunities to progress within the company and because of the variety of services that they offer, which meant that every day was different for them.

Nucore were grateful to receive the Skills Development Scotland Apprenticeship Employer Grant as additional support for the learning and development of the two apprentices that they have employed.
