Nucore Group has gone from strength to strength, since their realignment exercise, which took place nearly 6 months ago. Since then, Nucore has continued to grow and succeed, with fully integrated service offerings following on from recent contract wins, two additional graduates have joined the expanding business.

Nucore holds their Core Values in high regard, with the value of ‘People’ being central to the company’s daily activities as they believe that people are key to our success and drive our business forward’. Nucore chose to invest in two additional graduates following on from the success of their first graduate, who has now been with the company for over a year.

Nucore are looking forward to supporting the ongoing development of their new graduates and, Phil Davie Nucore Group COO said ‘It’s great to be in a position to keep investing in developing talent within the Nucore team.  Katie has settled into her Marketing role fantastically well at such a changeable time for business – it’s a credit to her that she has become a key member of the team so quickly. I really look forward to our two new graduates growing with the business as we continue to expand – I can see they are already making an active contribution to our operations’

Meet the Graduates

Katie McLaren, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Nucore, is now in her second year of the graduate programme. With the support and training that Nucore provided, Katie now runs social media platforms and coordinates all marketing material for the company. When asked about Katie’s experience so far at the company, she said ‘Learning in a new role during a pandemic was going to be challenging for so many different reasons, and when I first heard the news that we were going to be working from home, I was worried that I was going to fall behind on my training and development. This however did not happen, the team supporting me at Nucore, provided me with so much guidance and reassurance. I have now taken on various new roles within the company, and I am constantly eager to learn more, especially about the Renewables Sector, which I find particularly interesting!’

Rebecca Turner, the HR Administrator at Nucore Group, now a few weeks into her role said that ‘I have really enjoyed my first few weeks, everyone in the office has been so welcoming and friendly. So far, I have been involved in recruitment and interviews for graduate project engineers, conducting induction presentations for new employees and helping with the re-branding of Nucore by issuing everyone new ID badges. Being able to take part in a wide range of activities has broadened my HR knowledge and skills. I truly believe I made the right choice accepting the job offer with Nucore, as they believed in my abilities and skills even though I had no previous HR experience. This shows the commitment Nucore has towards developing its employees and encouraging learning to ensure employees have the skill set necessary for the role. I look forward to expanding my responsibilities within the company and completing my summer masters project with Nucore to enhance the current onboarding process. Completing this project will solidify my HR knowledge and allow me to directly apply what I have learnt in university to my HR Administrator role in Nucore.’

Cathryn Pinkney, Trainee Project Engineer at Nucore, graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering and then decided to relocate to Aberdeen to pursue a career in the engineering hub of Europe. Cathryn said she was ‘delighted to be offered a position as a trainee project engineer at Nucore as I was aware of the recent innovative projects and contracts Nucore has been delivering to market and their reputation in the local community so being asked to join the projects team was an honour.’ Cathryn said ‘Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived, and I knew on the first day I made the right choice in joining Nucore. I am eager and excited to see what the future holds for me here at Nucore but seeing the standard of professionalism of my colleagues and mentors I just know my future will be bright and full of possibilities if I can become half as good as them’.

It is clear the two graduates who have recently joined Nucore Group have settled into their roles well and received the necessary support. Nucore looks forward to watching each of the graduates grow as professionals and develop within their roles.
